HEARING AID FITTING
WHAT TO EXPECT AT A HEARING AID FITTING
In order to get the most out of your devices, our hearing professionals take the time for a thorough fitting and adjustment of your hearing aids. Hearing aids aren’t a one-size-fits-all option and need a little fine tuning to ensure optimum comfort and function.
During your initial fitting, your hearing aid will be adjusted to meet your lifestyle needs, and you’ll be given instructions on how to insert and remove them, as well as how to change the batteries or recharge your hearing aids and keep them clean.
Every pair of hearing aids we fit to our patients is adjusted with accuracy to meet your precise hearing needs. Hearing aids work extremely well when fitted and adjusted properly.
Using hearing aids can come with a dramatic learning curve, as most people gradually lose their hearing and may have forgotten what some sounds are like. Simply placing hearing aids in your ears will not instantly eliminate the hearing loss, as it takes the brain time to readjust to the new frequencies you’re hearing. It requires commitment, determination, and patience to successfully adjust to hearing aids.
When you first receive your hearing aids, there are a few things you can do to ensure you have success with them. For easier adaptation, make sure you wear them as much as you can. If you encounter situations where you still aren’t hearing well, write down what happened and let us know so that we can reprogram your device. Most importantly, be patient. The time it takes to get your device dialed in and working perfectly for you is worth a follow up visit or two.
